About Us
JOIN supports individuals and families experiencing houselessness in their transition to stable housing. Founded in 1992, JOIN is a regional leader in Housing First, using a relationship-based, trauma-informed, and collaborative approach that centers self-determination, dignity, and resilience.
Today, our seven programs and over 50 staff deliver culturally responsive services across Portland’s housing system, including Rapid Rehousing, Permanent Supportive Housing, and Primary Leasing. We serve people living unsheltered, doubled up, unstably housed, or in transitional housing—helping them secure stable housing and maintain it with ongoing support.
JOIN’s Day Space, our low-barrier drop-in center, serves over 100 people daily. Guests can access meals, showers, hygiene supplies, a mailing address, resource navigation, weekly onsite medical care, and other essential supports.
We’ve supported over 6,200 households—more than 10,500 individuals—in accessing safe, permanent housing and supportive services. Of those we’ve helped, 83% have maintained their housing for at least 12 months.
Our Day Space meets immediate needs for up to 100 people each day, offering showers, restrooms, a mailing address, hygiene supplies, hot meals, coffee, and a place for connection. Since opening, it has served more than 5,000 individuals.
At JOIN, we believe justice and dignity are essential to serving our unhoused community. We honor each person’s humanity through holistic, relationship-based support and equitable services—regardless of circumstance. We operate with transparency about the realities of homelessness in the tri-county region and continually refine our approach to address those disparities.
Our model centers on building trust and connection, equipping people with the resources they need to define their own path to housing and stability.
We are hands-on, innovative, authentic, and community-first—meeting people where they are and working toward a future where everyone has the support they need to thrive.
