Paid Summer 2017 Internship at JOIN
WHAT: JOIN is offering a paid internship opportunity in the Day Space. Interns will gain experience working in a drop-in center by building relationships with the folks who visit JOIN, helping people access mail, showers, laundry vouchers and clothing, and connecting folks to other services. Interns will also have the opportunity to shadow outreach and retention workers at JOIN to learn more about other aspects of the organization’s work.
WHO: All current high school juniors and seniors and college students who have participated on a JOIN immersion are eligible to apply. Previous experience in a drop-in center or a background in social work is not necessary for consideration.
WHEN: Mid-June to mid-August. Start dates are flexible depending on when school gets out. Interns will work 10 hours a week for 10 weeks. The Day Space is open Monday-Friday from 10-3 and interns can choose what day and times they would like to work.
HOW MUCH: Interns will work 100 hours over the course of the summer and will be paid $10 an hour.
TO APPLY: The application packet needs to be filled out and emailed or mailed back to JOIN by Monday, May 15th. Students will be notified by May 24th whether or not they have been accepted.
